October 2018 ASE Executive Highlight – Wesley Wright, COO / CIO

Posted by ASE Direct Team on Nov 5, 2018

ASE Executive SpotlightASE has delivered cutting edge office technology, streamlined workflows, and sustainable solutions for our clients, but where does our team get its direction from? We’ve cultivated an impressive leadership team that’s headed by the Clift family, but there are other executives that also set the tone for our company and provide the guidance we need to ensure results for our clients and profitability for ourselves.

Wesley Wright has been with ASE since 2007 and was promoted to COO in 2009. Before coming to ASE, Wesley served as the Authorized Organizational Representative and Program Development Director for NASC. In this position, Wesley worked with the executive team and managed competitive and congressionally-directed federal funding programs from several government organizations and departments. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee, and graduate credits from the Defense Acquisition University and the Graduate School USA in Washington, D.C.

We took some time to speak with Wesley about his role, what he enjoys, and what his career at ASE means to him.

What is your greatest professional achievement?

My long tenure with ASE. It has allowed me to grow into the COO role and given me the autonomy to make it my own.

What do you enjoy most about leading?

The people. You can't be a good leader without a good team behind you.

What do you think is the most difficult part of being an executive?

Time management! But it helps to take time to be as organized as possible.

How would you describe your management style?

"Laissez Faire" - I believe in letting people hear the big picture from me and then finding their own path to the answer. That's just how I am personally and how I prefer to be managed.

What do you do to boost staff morale?

Keep a sense of humor. I think it’s really important not to take myself or the job too seriously.

Which leader(s) do you look up to?

Winston Churchill. He was an unconventional leader. He set his mind to do something and that is what was going to be done. He got a lot of criticism, but he took it all in stride.

What is something most people don't know about you?

I am a big Aerosmith fan and currently looking forward to seeing them live in Las Vegas!

If a movie was made of your life, who would you cast to play you?

Tom Hanks: He has a good sense of humor but can also be serious when needed. He is very well rounded.
